Olliter Community License (OCL)

1. Purpose

The Olliter Community License (OCL) is designed to encourage experimentation, learning, and collaboration within the amateur radio and open research communities, while protecting Olliter’s intellectual property, brand, and commercial interests.

This license allows the use, modification, and sharing of OL-Master and related software for non-commercial purposes such as education, research, and amateur radio experimentation.

2. Permission

Licensed amateur radio operators, as defined under applicable national laws, as well as officially recognized amateur radio associations, are granted the right to use, modify, adapt, and extend the Licensed Software solely for legitimate amateur radio experimentation, education, and non-commercial collaboration. No direct or indirect commercial use is permitted, including resale, paid services, or the integration of the Licensed Software into products or systems offered in exchange for money or other compensation.

Any use of the Licensed Software for financial gain or commercial advantage by any individual, organization, corporation, or entity, regardless of whether they are part of the amateur radio community, is strictly prohibited. Activities such as selling derivative works, paid support, cloud service offerings, subscription models, closed-source integration, or any form of monetization are forbidden unless prior, explicit, written authorization is granted by the Copyright Holder.

Any contributions, pull requests, or patches submitted to Olliter repositories or maintainers are understood to be provided under the same OCL terms, and Olliter retains the right to include, modify, or reject such contributions at its discretion.

This software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the use of the software.

OL-Master and related components make use of third-party libraries distributed under their respective open-source licenses, including (but not limited to):

These libraries remain under their original licenses and are not covered by the Olliter Community License.

7. Governing Law

This license shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Swiss Confederation. Users are responsible for compliance with local laws applicable in their jurisdiction.

8. Summary

The Licensed Software is provided for experimentation and educational use within niche amateur radio technical environments. It is not intended for safety-critical, emergency, aviation, medical, military, commercial, or life-support applications. The Contributors and Copyright Holder make no warranties, express or implied, regarding functionality, reliability, compliance with radio regulations, emissions limits, or suitability for operational deployment. Use is entirely at the user’s own risk.

9. Additional notes

This License covers only the Software and does not grant any authorization to operate radio transmission hardware or systems that may require certification, licensing, or regulatory approval under applicable law. The user is solely responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance of any hardware or radio system in which the Software is used.
